Varicella, or more commonly known as chickenpox, is an infection that is caused by the Varicella Zoster virus. It a highly contagious disease and can be speared through sneeze and cough. The common characteristics of this disease are skin rash, itchiness, and formation of the blister on different parts of the body. Symptoms and complications that are associated with chickenpox are fever, headaches, tiredness, inflammation, and pneumonia.

The chickenpox virus is airborne, and it can be spread quickly through one person to another. It usually can take about 2-4 days for the rashes to appear after the infection. The disease is diagnosed by general physical and visual testes, but in some cases, when the symptoms are unclear, a test called polymerase chain reaction or PCR is done for the determination of the disease.

Right now, there are a number of treatments available that can treat chickenpox. But there is one after-effect caused by chickenpox that can’t be treated by these treatments. The scars that are left behind on the affected skin are called chickenpox scars. These scars can develop due to continue scratching the affected skin.

As we have seen, itchiness is one of the common characteristics of the disease. A constant itch on the affected skin can cause deep skin damage. It is because the blisters present on the skin starts to grow inside. It triggers the immune system to act and to reduce the formation of blisters. This process creates a thick layer of skin tissues to repair the damage, and these tissues are known as the chickenpox scar tissues or chickenpox scars.

Available Treatments Reduce Chicken Pox Scars

There is a number of treatments available that can helps is reducing and completely removing these scars. Most of the people initially go for a home to treat the scar, and this process includes the use of aloe vera, cocoa butter, argan oil, olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, lemon juice, and honey. Usually, people apply them directly after making a mixture.

Some of the Dermatological Treatments for these Scars Includes

  • Chemical Peel Treatment

Chemical peel treatment is a cosmetic treatment that is used to remove the unhealthy layers of skin so that a skin layer fresh takes its place. In the process of this treatment, the skin tested in order to determine which kind of chemical can be used. After that, that suitable chemical is spared on the skin with the help of cotton balls or sponge. As the chemical comes in contact with the skin, it starts to dissolve the unhealthy skin, and after some time, the skin layer is completed ejected by the body. Then the remains of the chemical and dissolved skin are cleared off using a wired brush.

  • Scar Removal Surgery

Different from the peeling treatment, in chicken pox scar removal surgery a laser is used to remove the scared skin. In this process, the laser cuts off the scar from the skin level, the skin scar-free, and for a new layer to take its place. Also, the heat produced by the laser triggers the production of collagen, which helps the skin to recover and rejuvenate.

  • Fillers Treatment

These scars can also cause the affected skin to sink, and filler treatment helps in treating such conditions. In this procedure, a filler compound is injected into the soft skin tissues, which result in leveling the sunken skin. But in time, these fillers get absorbed by the skin, making it a short term solution for the problem.

There is no saying that you can’t get infected and develop some kind of disease. What is more important is to understand the characteristics and symptoms of the disease. Because only then you can start the proper medication and treatment in time.
